Folkestone dance-pop band Native People emerged in 2013. Meshing ambient synthesizers with upbeat indie-rock influenced guitars; their reputation is growing as they embark on a UK tour in March. The band have also gained support from BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 6 Music. They’re release a cover of Gorgon City’s house track ‘Ready For Your Love’ last year has grasped the attention of many.

This cover version, released as a free download, in comparison, includes palm-muted guitars reminiscent of Two Door Cinema Club. It is fun and funky inplaces, the expressive vocals packing plenty of emotion.

In the second verse, there are some chilling atmospheric drums, helping the cover stand out and they compliment the guitars nicely. In the background, the production is buoyed by some ambient beats. The transition from this to the Foals-influenced chorus works well, the crashing cymbals and pounding snare drums creating an indie rock assault.

Native People have trademarked their sound on ‘Ready For Your Love’, setting them up for the future, winning over new fans in the process.
