Interestingly enough, the first time I caught anything from Kudu Blue was miles from their humble abode in Brighton, but at this years Live at Leeds festival in quirky central stop off venue ‘Nation of Shopkeepers’. Upon arrival the room is already brimming, and despite the odd technical difficulty (which come alongside the quick changeovers and stress of a 1 day festival) these guys were truly fantastic and clearly had an interest that stemmed far out of their hometown.
After further investigation, latest release ‘Vicinity’ in particular caught my eye. Earning itself a hefty 38k plays in just 2 months, this track has seen the 5 piece catch the eye of many with their genre defining soulful electronica. With stellar production emphasising the power of the female vocals (which were even better live) it is appearing Kudu Blue are set for an ascent to the top with a spattering of festival slots that are set to get them noticed.
