The issue with a lot of singer-songwriters is to do with the latter of that label. Despite their being many wonderful singers, its the ‘songwriting’, aspect that poses problems for many. Differentiation is so important when it comes to songwriting, and is something new CloseUp artist Luke May has in abundance, as portrayed in past single ‘Come Home’.
Diving straight into its main plot line, the narrative gives an insight into what can only be assumed is a complex relationship. ‘Come Home’ isn’t just an acoustic jam, its a reverb heavy and electronic laced amalgamation which showcases May’s ability to not just write elegant and memorable lyrical hooks, but drift between genres in doing so.
Having supported the likes of Jake Bugg, The 1975, Lucy Rose and more, its evident that their can be no doubt about the obvious talent of Luke May, and this is no more clear than in perhaps what is his finest work to date.
Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for new dates soon, but for now, listen to ‘Come Home’ below.
