HOWLAND – No Way: Single Review

Brighton based indie rockers HOWLAND have been making their mark on the scene over the course of the last few years. The quartet spent 2016 playing shows supporting both upcoming and big name indie bands, as well as headlining some smaller shows of their own. Their latest single No Way makes it clear that in doing this they’ve learned plenty about the formula behind a successful alternative rock song.

No Way begins with an instant hook; the slow, almost spoken vocals set the emotional tone for the track and the lyrics almost suggest there is a story to be told here. As the verse builds, so does the energy of the track. You can hear the feeling the band want to evoke as the chorus kicks in -the kind of chorus built to be played live. The structure, intricacy and delivery of the song are thoughtful and poised, making it easy to see HOWLAND are a band who truly wants to be heard.

No Way solidifies HOWLAND as a band to watch on the indie scene and with plenty of shows lined up for them already in 2017 it feels like we’ve only seen the beginnings of what they have to offer.

No Way is available on Spotify, iTunes and Soundcloud:
