Diskopunk – Antonio America: Singe Review

Antonio America the debut from Swedish band Diskopunk, which more than lives up to the promise in their name. A mixture of disco groove with the attitude of a curled upper lip from the dark eyed boy in the corner, the song echoes with promise.

Initially the spirit of the track is happily perplexing; it seems as though it’s destined to fill sweaty mosh pits before pulling out driving electronic beats that are akin to those you’d expect to hear from the likes of Two Door Cinema club or on a thriving dancefloor. However in its delivery what could be considered polar opposites in style are infused with a calculated subtlety which gives this track a soaring kind of nonchalance.

Antonio America has a sound steeped in personality, complimented by its softly confident and vaguely tongue in cheek lyrics. A refreshing track, Diskopunk have created a niche sound which encapsulates the listener in its provocative, unique and most importantly highly enjoyable noise.
