Glasgow has always been home to a lot of incredible artists from Simple minds to Primal Scream, from The Fratellis to Belle and Sebastian. That’s why we’re getting excited about The Van T’s who join the long list of talent the city has to offer. The band formed in 2013 and are made up of twins Chloe and Hannah (vocals and guitar), Joanne (bass) and Shaun (drums).
As their Facebook bio describes them, they are “everything you ever wanted from a 90’s dream”, so if you’re a fan of 90s grunge bands such as Garbage or Letters to Cleo, The Van T’s are the modern equivalent for you. Their music is awash with heavy guitar and alternate pop riffs and lyrics that are witty and effortless cool – you wont find any soppy slow numbers on this discography. Their latest single ‘Bittersweet’ gives Wolf Alice a run for their money with its strong bass line, lusty vocals, and a guitar solo fueled with reverb that will leave you wanting more.
The Van T’s have been making a name for themselves the last couple of years. They’ve played T in the Park, a BBC Introducing session and supported the likes of Honeyblood, Jesus and the Mary Chain, as well as being hand picked to support RATBOY at his Glasgow show. They will be joining us at Club Closeup on Friday 13th October, so make sure to come check them out as they’re one you won’t want to miss.
