Here at CloseUp we’re all about bringing you some of the best live artists to the stage. Our second Club Closeup of the year with Jagermeister takes place on the 9th February and we’re excited to have Sid Batham, Albert Gold & BURNZ along to perform on the night for you.
Multi-instrumentalist Sid Batham is no stranger to touring having played some top line festivals such as Wireless, The Great Escape and Lovebox back in 2013 and even headlining Electrowerkz. However he decided to take a break and go under the radar, teaching himself how to produce and avoid being turned into another carbon copy pop star. It’s safe to say Sid’s return to the spotlight has captivated ears and hearts alike in the way he combines indie, pop, soul and funk into an electric dream that stands him out from the crowd. He first dropped ‘Feels’ that bewitched us with its epic chorus, funky bassline and that majestic voice of his. Think Prince meets Disclosure and you’ll definitely be getting them feels. ‘Say The Word’ is an exhilarating number that showcases Sid’s vocal range starting off in the high notes and moving into a more mellow, emotive chorus. ‘Like I Do’ is his most popular Spotify hit and is a thriving upbeat indie-pop number that radiates instant happiness and continuing to demonstrate the variety of Sid Batham’s talent. With such talent under his belt, we can ensure his live performance will have you in awe.
Albert Gold will also be joining us to perform his rare and transfixing alternative soul sounds Influenced by the likes of Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder and John Legend. He has a passion for blending different genres to create a versatile mix of glorious releases. Radio 1’s Huw Stephens is a big fan as is BBC Introducing. Albert has also performed live at Sofar Sounds as well as Communion, London in Stereo and The Fix shows. His single ’Don’t Let Me Go’ is an upbeat track with elements of gospel, pop and soul, which differs from ‘All This Time’ that fuses R’n’B and electronica together all while showing off his hauntingly beautiful vocals. Make sure to check out ‘Second’ his EP released towards the end of 2017 which includes the sombre ‘Miserable’ that truly shows off that soulful influence and prepare yourself for a sensational show.
Another of the highly exciting London-centric artists that’ll be performing at Club CloseUp (w/ Jager UK) on February 9th is BURNZ. The Hertfordshire honed alt-soul troubadour Joseph Bernie has been plying his trade all over London in recent times, earning rave reviews throughout the circuit. All of this seemingly combined means that 2018 could be a massive year for BURNZ.
