CloseUp Festival 2018: Tier 2 Announcement

The wait is finally over and we’re finally able to share with you the next wave of artists for CloseUp Festival 2018 which takes place on the 12th May at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen. We’ll be bringing you a whole host of talented artists across all different genres for a day of incredible music. If you missed the first line up announcement (then where have you been?!) you can read all about it here

Headlining the main stage this year will be KYKO who will be sure to bring the energy with his combination of beats and riffs that will have you burning holes in the dance floor. For a taster of what to expect, check out the addictive ‘Nature’, the Summerlike sounds of ‘Horizon’, and the hypnotic ‘Dive In’ which has had over 4 million streams of Spotify to date. Across his discography, you’ll find upbeat, tropical infused-pop tracks that ooze warmth and make the perfect setlist as a headliner at our festival.

firm favourite here at CloseUp, the lovely Jerry Williams will dazzle us with her beautiful voice and sharp-witted songs that tell stories of love and life and are a joy to be witnessed live. Her track ‘Babe’ was selected as a top track of 2017 of ours and shows off her raw potential. You’ll also find yourself hooked on the sensational ‘Mother’ and you’ll want to live your best life after having a dance to ‘Grab Life’.

Hailing from Stockport, four-piece No Hot Ashes will be sharing their unique ‘post-pop-disco-funk’ sound. The band was conceived through a love of 70s & 80s disco and funk that’s ever-present in their music with its indie-fuelled riffs and gritty vocals. They’ll have you dancing with the song ‘Goose’ and no doubt perform their latest release ‘Skint Kids Disco’ with its animated beats and chanting vocals.

Excited to also be on the line up are indie-pop duo, The New Coast. Born from a mutual infatuation of American cinema and pop culture, the pair create impactful music that you can just imagine fitting a movie soundtrack. For a taster, enjoy the unique layering of vocals in the powerful ‘Home’ and the evocative ‘Caught’ that’ll warm your soul and get you in the mood for their live set.

They’ll be joined by dark pop advocates, How’s Harry and their Foals-esque vibes. An incredible live band, How’s Harry’s show will be full to the brim with meaty guitar and catchy chants as present in the anthemic ‘Gathering Storm’ and the boisterous ‘Othello’. You’re in for an electrifying performance that’s not to be missed.

Also from the CloseUp family, we’re looking forward to having Bexley boys, Glass Peaks on the bill. They create huge riffs that you’ll crave like an addiction to hear more of. Their alt-indie sound is rowdy and passionate, containing turbulent guitars and gripping vocals. Get ready for their set by getting your ears around ‘I’m Okay’ – another selection of our top picks of 2017 – and their latest euphoric indie number ‘(Don’t) Ask Me To Dance’.

Rounding off our second tier announcement are Submariner will be gracing us with their fusion of indie rock full of earworms and poignant riffs. We can expect to hear the emotive ‘Closer’ and the sensational ‘Stumbling’, plus there’s mention of a new EP release this year, so perhaps one or two new tracks will make it too.

All this lot be joining the likes of Little Cub, FOURS, Childcare, Dextric, Arcade and SPINN across who will also be performing on the day across two stages. We still have the headliner of our newest stage, ‘The Green Room’ to announce so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime, you can buy your tickets from DICE for just £14.50 here: https://goo.gl/QrPFHv

We’ll see you there!
