On Friday 23rd March, Club CloseUp in association with Jagermeister will be bringing a selection of some of the hottest artists in electro-pop to Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen for you to enjoy.
Our headliner of the night, Bossy Love, come from Glasgow and are a distinctive duo consisting of singer-come-mechanical scientist Amanda Wilkinson (formerly of Operator Please) and ex-Dananananaykroyd drummer and BBQ restaurateur John Baillie Jnr.
Their 2014 track ‘Sweat It Out’ was self-released, and soon earned them a ‘one to watch’ status and a dedicated following. Since then they’ve gone on to earn support from BBC Radio 1Xtra, Kiss FM, CLASH magazine and Beats 1, and their magnetic punk attitude makes them even more irresistible. Bossy Love are eccentric and compelling with their hybrid of R&B pop infused with hip-hop beats as evident in ‘Want Some’ and the dominant ‘Body’. They’re experienced live performers who are ready to convert the new and excite the faithful. With Bossy Love you’re in for a party like no other.
Singer-songwriter Jazz Mino will be providing support, showcasing her powerful, rich vocals and infectious melodies that are surefire to captivate you. Her breakout single ‘Crush’ was released last year and made it to no.5 in the UK Club chart. It’s a reimagining of Jennifer Paige’s original from 1998 that is fuelled by synths, electro beats and piano to create a completely new and unique sound. Alongside the release of her music, Jazz Mino is a strong advocate on raising awareness for mental wellbeing and health and shares messages of equality, diversity and self-care. You’ll notice from her Instagram that with each track release comes a different colour aesthetic, and she shares encouragement and powerful captions throughout. She’s not just a musician, but also an inspiration.
Jazz is exuberant and creative with an astounding voice, as showcased in ‘The Love of You’ that starts off with a focus on her vocals because the beat drops and the tropical vibes radiate out. No doubt Jazz will be performing her latest hit, ‘Together in Electric Dreams’, another recreation she’s released.
Opening the show are VOID, a duo with their own stance on Electro Pop that sees an intriguing blend of melodic songwriting and emotive electronic production come to life. They have recently released an EP entitled ‘Awaken’, a three track record that’s evocative and captivating, with pure emotion portrayed behind the beats and the sublime vocals. You’ll be in awe of these two as the commence the evening.
