What are you up to this Friday? Got a loose end? We’ll tie it up for you in no time – head on down to Thousand Island in Islington where SHANGHAI BLUES will be headlining your Friday night and putting on an indie party for everyone to enjoy.

If you’ve not heard of SHANGHAI BLUES, they’re four childhood friends hailing from East London who are best known for raucous riffs and soaring sounds. CLASH magazine said that “There’s a steady sense of calm running through [their music]. Perhaps it’s an innate sense of zen, or maybe it’s simply confidence in their abilities.” There is no doubt about it that this band have perfected their craft and share a passion and confidence that radiates throughout their music. With songs like indie anthem ‘Night Tears‘, the rigorous ‘Tense‘, and the hauntingly beautiful ‘Those Three Words‘ under their belt – each showing off their talented indie art – it’s no surprise that these guys are going from strength to strength. Their latest single ‘Lies‘ is powerful not just in sound but in lyrics and has the guitar chimes and prime vocals to boot.

SHANGHAI BLUES have perfected their live performance having spent the last couple of years as a band touring all across the UK and selling out shows here and there. This will be their biggest headline show to date as part of their biggest UK tour and so we guarantee it’ll be a showstopper.

Support from the night comes from Joel, Ben, Jack and Faw aka Corella, a Manchester-based quartet who create contagious songs that combine chiselled vocals, melodic guitars and pulsating beats to get your feet dancing. Get your hands clapping along to the energetic ‘Caught Up‘, and delight in the riffs of ‘Say Something‘. Having played the likes of The Great Escape, Edinburgh Fringe, Y NOT festival and more, Corella are certainly making their mark on the scene and we’re excited to have them on the bill.

If you’re a fan of bands such as Metronomy and Foals then you’ll like the sound of our opened OH LA KANADA. Fusing together alternative rock and dream pop, this five-piece from London certainly are a unique offering to the music world. Enjoy ‘Fantasy‘ with its almost acapella-style verses and ‘Paper Love‘ also from their self-titled EP that fully encompasses the ‘dream pop’ sound, producing a euphoric yet bubbly track making it no surprise that it’s the bands most streamed track on Spotify. Their latest release ‘Wasted Life‘ is an anthem in the making with its catchy chorus and memorable riffs. Throughout OH LA KANADA’s songs, each musician compliments the other perfectly and we expect they’ll be a joy to watch live.
