We’re stoked to have the incredibly talented Franko Fraize on the CloseUp Roster. He’s been working hard over the past years to get his music out there and augment his offering. He describes himself as “A rapper telling it how [he sees] it” as he waxes lyrical about the world right on his doorstep, utilising catchy hooks and hypnotic beats. Some of his influences have been cited as Wiley, Jamie T, New Order and Pete Doherty adding a unique spin to his sound.
Back in the days when Myspace and YouTube were the ways to be picked up online, Franko was more on the grime and hip-hop scene. Over the years he has developed that multi-genre style including adding a full band to his live set to really bring something special to the stage which can fluctuate from warehouse rave to stadium rock. Past accomplishments include sessions at the iconic Maida Vale for Huw Stephens and supporting the likes of Mike Skinner, Rudimental, Reverend & The Makers & many more.
Past singles ‘Only‘, ‘Oi Oi!‘ & current single ‘Let It Go‘ contribute to streams well above 500k across Spotify, and regular inclusion in their prestigious New Music Friday & Alt Hip-Hop playlists. One of his more recent singles, ‘Queen of Hearts‘ has a melancholy tone as it tells of a female protagonist accompanied by infectious loops and meaningful lyrics. It’s taken from his latest EP release ‘Lights and Colour‘ which also includes the sensational ‘Side by Side‘ and ‘Stop Me‘ featuring Alex Joseph. We know Franko has plenty more up his sleeve and can’t wait to see what comes next.
