Ready for another Club CloseUp that’ll blow your mind? On the 23rd November at Hoxton Square Bar + Kitchen we’ve got another stellar line up for you in association with Jägermeister, so gather your mates and your dancing shoes and get ready for an eclectic line up of some of the best on the scene.
Headlining the show will be US hip-hop star in the making Lucien Parker. Hailing from Minneapolis, the emerging rapper/singer/song writer’s passion stems from an interest in poetry and spoken word. He released his first full-length LP in the summer of 2016 and has been causing a stir on the scene ever since. His follow-up EPs – Chapter IV, Chapter V and Chapter VI each tell the story of a different chapter in Lucien’s life. He believes music is a “tool that can change the world“, with songs such as ‘Round Me‘ which expresses his feeling towards the racial climate and “sprinkled within are some of [his] own traumatic experiences“. Check out the sensational ‘Impossible‘ which has had over 900k streams and ‘Mephoria‘ the title track to his 2018 release. Lucien uses his music and creativity to push boundaries and send out powerful messages through poignant vocals in amongst flowing melodies and smooth, catchy hooks. This will be his debut London headline show and we for one are excited to have him perform.
You might have already heard the sounds of our next act, Raphaella, before. Her vocals have featured on a number of releases at BBC R1 and 1Xtra and she’s collaborated with artists such as Rudimental, MNEK, Midnight City, Friction, Gorgon City to name a few. She’s an artist, producer and songwriter who has been busy working on her solo project, developing her own unique sound, taking inspiration from her Persian heritage and combining it with sensational synths to create savvy alt-electro-pop music that sets her apart from other female artists out there.
Her tracks, ‘Good Life‘ and ‘Love-Sick‘ taken from her 2018 EP ‘Imagine‘ are strong and mighty, proudly displaying Raphaella’s vocals and ability to create earworms. ‘Read My Mind‘ is a slower beat really showcasing her production skills and creating something euphoric and addictive. Raphaella’s set will bring her music to life and leave you in awe.
Opening the show will be singer-songwriter Jack Cullen who has been having a great time this year. ‘Learn‘, released just a few months ago is an incredible track that’s powerful, and gratifying, and even made it on to Spotify’s notorious New Music Friday. Jack’s follow up, ‘Teabags & Cigarettes‘ is a song he “wrote on a rainy day in Ireland”, which begins just his extraordinary vocals and guitar building into a beautiful sound backed with a choral sound and dreamy harmonies. He’s been working hard to bring us new music as well as perform shows, including playing the BBC introducing stage at Standon Calling and having his first London headline show sell out. Catch Jack perform for us as he continues to rise.
