If your style of Indie is along the veins of The 1975 and Blossoms then our latest addition to the CloseUp family, Birthday Card, will be the new music you’ll love.
Since joining the scene in 2017, the quintet from Brighton have been busy busy busy sharing their melancholy indie pop. They currently have three single releases under their belt, and have played many live shows across the UK in the past couple of years, including an immensely popular sold-out, self-hosted hometown show.
Their debut single, ‘Heartstops‘ has had over 28k streams and views across platforms and fast became a fan favourite with its sun-kissed summer vibes. The song is “a love letter to the eighties” and certainly encompasses qualities that give it a vintage feel. It was the perfect debut to launch their music and not bad considering it was recorded in drummer Leslie’s shed.
Follow up tracks ‘Berlin‘ and ‘Something Like Heaven‘ also shows off those all important snappy synths and dreamy guitars that Birthday Card incorporates into their tracks, bringing that sound of the eighties into the 21st century. With tight harmonies and live drums, they create unique, upbeat and enjoyable songs that sound even better live on stage. They for sure will be ones to watch in 2019.
